Entry to Peru

Important information about entering Peru. Hungarian private passports allow visa-free stays of up to ninety days for tourist purposes in the country.

Basic Information

Hungarian private passports allow visa-free stays of up to ninety days for tourist purposes in the country. During this time, you can enjoy Peru's wonderful natural and cultural attractions. Important to note that within a year, a maximum of 90 days of visa-free stay is possible as a tourist. The 1 year is not from January 1 to December 31, but calculated from the entry date. The 90 days is not automatic - the number of days granted always depends on the immigration officer. There is no possibility of extension, if you want to stay longer than 90 days, you must apply for a visa.

Required Documents

A valid passport is required for entry, which must be valid for at least 6 months upon arrival. It is important that your travel documents are valid, and make sure you don't overstay! Pay attention to local health regulations and international travel insurance is recommended.

Entry Process

After leaving the plane, follow the signs to immigration control. Then present your passport (must be valid for at least 6 months upon arrival) and answer the questions asked by the immigration officer. The purpose of your entry can be tourist or business. This is an important question because if you have business purposes (e.g. signing contracts, purchasing property, rental agreement, etc.), you will need a signature authorization "Permiso especial para suscribir documentos". You must indicate this intention! If the immigration officer registers your entry as business, then you have signature rights. If however as a tourist, then you will need to obtain separate signature authorization if you might need it.

TAM (Tarjeta Andina de Migracion)

TAM was for years a small white card that every person entering the country had to fill out by hand, then an immigration officer stamped it at the entry point, and it had to be returned to immigration when leaving the country. A few years ago, Peru eliminated the use of the printed form and introduced the so-called TAM Virtual at Jorge Chávez International Airport (for international travelers) and authorized seaports (for cruise passengers). So today in Peru, TAM is mostly just an entry in the Migraciones database that automatically registers the entry and exit date. If you want to check what personal data is recorded, how many days were granted to you upon entry to the country, or for any reason you need to prove when you entered Peru or left Peru, you can download it from the Migraciones Agencia Digital page.

Signature Authorization

If you sign a contract or document as a tourist in the country, and you don't have separate authorization, then the contract is officially null and void, can be challenged, and if you need to present it to a Peruvian authority, they won't accept it.

Log in to the Migraciones Agencia Digital page, then in the left menu column find the permits "PERMISOS" and then the menu item for signing contracts "PARA FIRMAR CONTRATOS". This authorization is for a maximum of 30 days. Click the "Siguiente" button.
